The main part of the tournament consisted of 5 rounds Swiss, 5-point matches. Only Sassan emerged with 5 out of 5, while four players had 4 out of 5: Guy, Michel, Patrick, and Rudy. They played hypergammon qualifiers, out of which Patrick emerged as winner but Michel was eliminated. Whence the 'big final' Patrick-Sassan and the small final Guy-Rudy.
